Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE)

Lab 12B: ISE: Electroanalytic Probes

Dr. Stephen Lukacs (June 2016)

The pH probe is an ISE for the proton. ISEs exist for many other compounds to detect and calibrate against. We'll test the Sodium ion content of common forms of water.

ISE

(June 2016) Will show you how to setup and run the instrument. You'll run your calibration against the various forms of water samples.

Don't forget to fit your data to the form of the Nernst Equation, or:

mV = m Ln(C) + b

where mV is the millivolt reading from the XL60, Ln is the natural log, but you can use the Log base 10, C is the known concentration of your standard serial dilutions of sodium, and m and b are your fit parameters.
