Laboratory lectures and tutorials for General Chemistry 1
(February 2023) A Microsoft Excel tutorial for processing and evaluating the raw pH titration data to interpolate and determine the endpoint of the titration to 4 significant figures. Some details on creating a formal proper graph of the data are also presented including chart and axis titles.
(April 2023) A Microsoft Excel tutorial for processing and evaluating the raw conductivity data to determine through interpolation the concentrations, i.e., the molarities, of unknown water samples to 3 or 4 significant figures. Since the mobilities of ions naturally conform to a C(3/2) (or x(3/2)) polynomial but there is no analytical mathematical equation to solve for the unknown concentrations, Excel will use numerical approximations under "Goal Seek" to determine our unknown concentrations from the measured conductivities of our various unknown water samples.
